Hi all does anyone know how to use "wish" with the past tense? I wished I ... which tense do we have to use after? thanks Regards Fred

Hi Fred I would use the preterit I wished I had .... or I wished having or I wished I would/could have (conditional)
Any other suggestions or corrections??

"I wished she had been with us" for instance

When talking about a wish that you had in the past:
"I wished she had been with us"
This means that at some point in the past you had a situation where you wished that she was there.
If you are talking about NOW and you now wish her to be here, you would say, 'I wish she were here'. You can also say 'I wish she was here' (more slangy).
